David Marshall - Comic Book Art | Here I Am
Substance
This is part of a story I did for my Senior Degree Project (think "Dissertation Lite") for Massachusetts College of Art.
To distinguish myself from the 4 million other comic book fans in my department, I focused on domestic and international comic books of the first half of the 20th century. The tie-in was how those specific movements influenced everything that came after.
This original story was a demonstration of what I learned as an artist from all this history. While the story itself was full of first-time young writer cliches, the overall form was well-received.
Form
- 10" x 15" live area on 14" x 17" bristol paper
- Higgins Black Magic india ink
- Speedball nib #512 (art and lettering)
